AR2700 High Speed Long Range Sensor

Acuity’s AR2700 high-speed long range sensor uses time-of-flight measurement principles to measure long distances at short measurement intervals to provide precise accuracy at high sampling rates. The ultra-compact AR2700 laser sensor can measure distances from 0.2 m to 70 m to natural targets of low reflectance (10%). The accuracy is generally specified with an absolute linearity of +/- 60 mm and a repeatability of +/- 25 mm. The AR2700 linearity will vary depending on sample averaging, temperature, and surface reflectivity of the target surface. The sensor has maximum sampling rate of 40,000 samples per second and measurements can be triggered using an input signal wire or a serial command at rates up to 30Khz. For very distant measurements, you can use retroreflective target material (such as 3M Scotch lite 3000X) to increase the maximum range to 270 meters. The compact laser distance sensor is offered as a ready-to-use device with industry standard IP67 housing. Typical applications for the AR2700 include bridge crane monitoring, trolley positioning and altitude measurements, height pole measurement, amongst others. Its high sampling rate and ultra-compact case make it ideal for industrial scanning applications and OEM installations with a tight fit.

Features

  • The sensor is designed for industrial environments with NEMA-4, IP67 enclosure ratings.
  • Typical data outputs are serial RS232, RS422(optional) and current loop 4-20 mA signals.
  • For large-volume machine builders, a module version is available, which includes the “guts” of the rangefinder without an environmental enclosure. The module has different power requirements.
  • The AR2700 measures from 0 to 70 m without the use of reflective targets. It measures to natural target surfaces (opaque surfaces) with reflectivity as low as 10.
  • The accuracy of the measurement is typically 60 mm with sample averaging.
  • With a maximum frequency response of 40KHz, the AR2700 sensor is ideal for measuring fast-moving targets such as cars on a highway.
  • For long distant measurements, one can use reflective target material to measure between 70 and 270 meters.
